Using phpBB as your Joomla Comments Engine

King-Nothing
I have now deleted everything related to this plugin, also the sql-changes it makes and re-installed. But the problem is still there.

I really scratch my head over this as I have never had any issues with permissions before. :(

Did you look into this the other day like to said Chris?
Lamis
I keep getting
Fatal error: Call to a member function new_topic() on a non-object in /home/lamis/public_html/forum/includes/functions_posting.php on line 1856

Any news Chirs?

Sorry for beeing a bitch about this, but this is the only thing missing in order to start betatesting of my new site. :)
Chris
Unfortunately, no. I looked at it over the weekend and didn't find anything I could see. I'll keep looking and post here if I find anything.

Do you have a URL for your website, so I can see what's going on?

Also, try "./forum/" for your root path. You need to have the trailing slash at the end for it to work. I'll add some code in the next version to make sure that is the case, but for now you have to have that yourself.[/quote]

I am running into a similar problem, but it is only a minor inconvenience as its not all of them. I can wait...

My main concerns are as follows:

1. How can I add a few blank lines above the "post a comment" link? I don't want to snoop around in your files and screw up and alpha release yet.

2. Is there any way you could add a preview of say the last 5 comments? That way the could be viewed below post?

3. Also associated with #2 is there anyway there could be a form for the comment on the article page? This would help encourage posting because a page would not need to be loaded... After post it would guide them to the forum topic but I would be blown away if you could somehow add a posting box to the article page as well.

I`ve removed this from my site, since I cannot get it work and you (chris) can`t find the issue. Please let me know it you think you`ve found a solution. I`ll just have to do this manually for now. I`ll be checking in here from time to time. :)

GREAT MOD. I was going to make something like this.

I do have 1 problem that I'm hoping you can help me with.

If I created a article and post it and wanted to remove it it worked fine if I deleted the forum topic first then the article, but when I tried to delete the article first then go delete the forum topic it freaked out.

If you look at my forum it has 2 ghost topics. I tried removing them from the table phpbb_topics using phpmyadmin, but when I press the X it says query was successful, but the topics stay.

Any idea how to get rid of them?

What I did was I only had 1 real post in there so I exported that as SQL and emptied the table. After that I imported the 1 topic back into phpbb_topics using the sql I exported.

Please look into this though. I want to use the mod on the mod live on the site.

I would rather use your mod then create one from scratch. For now I'll just remember to delete the topic first before deleting the article.

While I wait for Chris answer, maybe some of you guys can help me.

I have read blog Using phpbb as your joomla comments engine and I am stuck right here:

Create a comments table using this SQL:

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `jos_phpbb_comments` ( `source` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `topic` int(11) NOT NULL default '0' ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;

Can you please explain to me where do I need to do this?
(in phpmyadmin, if yes, on wich of my database - joomla or phpbb3)

If you can do step by step instruction I would be very grateful, I know little to nothing about databases.

TY in advance

Hello Styght!

It's little difficult to find your post in all these spam posts :)

So, you need to add new table to your Joomla database, using phpmyadmin:

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `jos_phpbb_comments` ( `source` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `topic` int(11) NOT NULL default '0' ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;

Hope this helps!

Bye!
