Well, I promised to explain why I don't like working here (Cumulus-Fayetteville) Part II -- The Boss Factor, and here it is. There was a bit of a delay as the topper was still in progress.
To start, I'll recount the event that Chad and Tammy each had a part in, although I'm not sure if I've recounted it before.
When Ron and Liz came to Fayetteville, I gave Chad and Tammy a three week heads up that they were coming in. I also made sure that I covered one of Tammy's earlier weekends so that I would not have to work that one. So basically, after I finished my work on Friday at about noon (I go to work at 5:30 AM), I wanted to leave and not return until Monday. They said that was fine.
Then the backpedalling began. They assigned me to a remote that Friday. That's a three hour responsibility not including the trip there and back. It was Laurinburg. That is about an hour and fifteen minutes away. So, after I picked Ron and Liz up from the airport, I had to leave them at my apartment, alone - while I went back to work for five and a half hours. No, make that seven hours. They then assigned me to voicetrack a five hour shift for Saturday. Thankfully, Tammy didn't get around to making the music log for Sat. until after noon, so I couldn't do it earlier in the day when I had nothing to do.
So, it was - "Hey Ron and Liz, enjoy my TV and TiVo for the next seven hours, I'll be back at 8 o'clock! At least I'll be exhausted from working all day!"
Good times. That's when I decided to not just be a good soldier and keep my head up while looking for a new job. I will do the minimum required. I will do everything that I am asked so that I do not get fired and not a bit more.
On top of that, the week before, he pressured Amber into giving him the inflatable pool we got for buying Amber's car. Not a huge deal, but it was worth around $150. On top of that, he somehow cornered her into bringing it to the station for him.
Throw in a general dick-like quality and you begin to appreciate the man. He's the type of guy that will begin walking away from you while you are asking him a question. Or the person who will IM you during your show to get all up your ass about a mistake being made. I can think of no other way to keep a person in a good mood and focused on their job than to flip out on them for a little mistake. Especially when it wasn't their fault.
Like when Amber gets yelled at for playing the same sweeper between three songs in a row. He flips out. Then she tells him that this did not happen. He reiterates that it can't happen. She points out that it did not happen and she can show him the logs to prove it. And he responds with silence or an away message.
Or when I was sick. I told him that I may miss the next day, and I would call him at six to tell him. I feel worse, so I call at six. No answer, so I leave a message. I wait an hour. I call again and leave a message. No call back.
I then call Tammy. She does not answer. I call Glenn, her boyfriend/fiancee (depends on the day) and he answers. I tell him I am going to miss work, but can't get Chad. He says he'll try Chad. I hang up. 60 seconds pass. Chad calls me back and tells me that he'll find someone to cover for me. Then, I ask to talk to whomever is going to do it, so I can answer any questions they might have. He tells me not to for reasons I cannot fathom (actually I'll guess in a few paragraphs).
The next morning, Tammy is running the board and doesn't know how to do it. The satellite goes offline and she freaks out, calling me. I left the phone in the living room, so I miss all the calls. Things get resolved after she calls Amber and Amber wakes me. I talk Tammy down off the ledge and tell her that there are explicit instructions on what to do in the studio, and that I have left them there every day for the last three months. She tells me that they are not there, and I am basically irresponsible. I wish her the best.
Later that day, this email exchange takes place. Note: every time he sends out an email criticizing someone, he copies it to everyone in management. This was no exception.
Chris,
Please update and leave ALL info for running Rick & Bubba in the studio, at all times, easily accessible for who may be filling in and running the show immediately.
***Technical contact information, phone numbers and names.
***Service element placement clocks (traffic, weather, sports, news, etc.) Into stopset, out of stop set etc.
***Best of CD in case the link goes down.
Thanks!

I replied:
Unless somebody moved it, there is a folded sheet of paper in front of the TV in the studio that explicitly shows what to do at each local break, including a script of what to say.
Last night, I asked to talk to whomever was going to run the board to go over what needed to be done, but was told it was not necessary.
For immediate clarification, here is the clock. I will create a full write up to put in the studio when I get back, but I still have a fever, so it looks like I'll miss one more day til the antibiotics kick in.
(clock was attached)
I received no reply.
For the record:
The sheet explaining what to do WAS IN THE STUDIO.
Wow. That's a lot of words, and I didn't even get to the most recent fiasco. I guess you have something to look forward to over the Christmas break.
