<p>Just finished hacking my new SDTiVo, to go along with my hacked HDTiVo. Good times. Well, at least mind-numbingly frustrating times. So, that's how I spent my Giants-free weekend. Now, after I finish watching all the shows on my old SDTiVo, it goes on EBay.</p>

<p>I just checked the pricing on the old TiVo, and its not worth selling. Poop.</p>

Sure. All I'll need is a soldering gun, a pair of pliers, two 8 Ohm resistors and a non-DirecTV TiVo. Then, with a little work, I should be able to make that happen.

Seriously, though. The reason DirecTiVos are cheaper is that they have no MPEG capture card in them. They record the digital video from the satellite directly to the hard drive. Standalone TiVos convert the analog video in to digital before recording it. That is expensive, so that's why standalones can only record one thing at a time. DirecTiVos are cheap, and thus its easy to make them record two things at once.

it's ok though, i've accepted the fact that watching television here kinda sucks, considering the tv in my room is about the size of my fist. It makes going home a big treat, like from going to a normal tv to chris's tv.
