I haven't posted much here.

Chris
Partially, this is because although I know only a few people can see this, I still do not really trust it.

Nevertheless, here goes.

As I have posted somewhat, I used to have a wacky Morning Show here in Fayetteville. Now I run the board for Rick and Bubba from 6 to 9 AM every morning and then do other stuff I don't want to do for a few hours.

Work goes from boring to tedious to soul-crushing to a simple inconvenience and back. The low point of my "career" here was the Friday that Ron and Liz came out to the NC.

A month in advance, I had asked to have that weekend off. Not a big request, considering I have every other weekend off. I also asked not to be scheduled anything on that Friday afternoon. Not a tough request either, considering that I get to work at 5:30 AM, so a full day ends at 1:30.

Needless to say, the fine folks at Cumulus were able to comply with neither request. I had to voicetrack a weekend shift, for which the music log wasn't ready until mid-afternoon. On top of that, I had to do a remote in Laurinberg, which is about and hour and a half away. Meaning, Ron and Liz arrive, I pick them up at the airport, drop them off at my place, and then leave for five hours.

Classy.

Then, get back to the station and voice track for an hour. Added bonus, I'm too exhausted to do anything Friday night.

While not the end of the world, I think it was indicative of the lack of respect I get there. And it's not a personal thing either. They don't respect anyone at this place. They work people way too hard, give them nothing, treat them poorly, and then are shocked when they leave.

I am approximately halfway up the seniority chart at the cluster after four months there. At the two stations run by my PD, two full-timers have quit as well as 5 part-timers. Two-thirds of the traffic department left for other jobs. Most people I talk to are actively seeking other employment. I may join that club very shortly as well. There doesn't seem to be much reason for me to stay here other than I don't feel like moving for the fifth time in three years, Amber would have to find a job too, and the weather's just getting nice.

I'll keep updating any job and moving info here in this forum. Please do not refer to this forum or anything discussed in it out side of it. I'm not really interested in getting fired.
Brendan
Wow. Even I feel dead inside.

Actually, it really seems like you are.
Chris
No, there's a difference. I do not want to get fired. Getting fired means I am poor and get no unemployment. If I "leave the job", that means I have gainful employment elsewhere.

Its the difference between Andy Dufresne from Shawshank tunneling down the sewage pipe and standing in the rain and the crier at the beginning who gets beaten to death. The first method takes a lot longer and leaves you covered in shit, but you're truly free. The second gets you out of jail, but in a coffin.

I want to be free, but to do it right, I have to crawl through shit for awhile.

Welcome to the wonders that is adult employment, Brendan.

Your turn is next.
